Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using AromaDex ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.

Description of Service

AromaDex is an online encyclopedia for fragrance materials and natural ingredients. The Service allows users to browse, search, and explore information about perfumery ingredients, categories, and extractions.

User Accounts

To access certain features, you may need to create an account. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

User Content and Contributions

Assignment of Rights

By submitting any content, data, or information to AromaDex — including but not limited to material descriptions, odor profiles, safety data, synonyms, formulations, corrections, and any other contributions ("User Contributions") — you irrevocably assign to AromaDex LLC all rights, title, and interest in and to such User Contributions. This assignment includes, without limitation, all copyright, database rights, sui generis rights, and any other intellectual property rights therein, worldwide and in perpetuity.

To the extent that any moral rights or similar inalienable rights apply to your User Contributions, you hereby waive such rights to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, or where waiver is not permitted, you agree not to assert such rights against AromaDex or its licensees.

AromaDex's Rights to Contributions

Upon submission, AromaDex may use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, sublicense, sell, commercialize, or otherwise exploit your User Contributions in any form, medium, or technology now known or hereafter developed, without further notice, attribution, or compensation to you. This includes, without limitation, the right to make User Contributions available through APIs, data feeds, or other commercial products and services.

Contributor Representations

By submitting User Contributions, you represent and warrant that:

• You have the legal right and authority to assign the rights described above
• Your contributions are not copied from proprietary or confidential sources without authorization
• Your contributions do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party
• You understand and accept that you will not receive compensation for your contributions beyond access to and use of the Service

Content Standards

You agree not to submit content that:

• Infringes on the intellectual property rights of others
• Contains knowingly false or misleading information
• Is harassing, abusive, or discriminatory
• Contains malware or harmful code
• Violates any applicable laws or regulations

Intellectual Property

The Service — including its software, design, branding, trademarks, logos, and the entirety of its compiled database — is the exclusive property of AromaDex LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, database rights, and other applicable intellectual property laws.

The AromaDex database, including all material data, descriptions, safety information, categorizations, synonyms, and related content (whether originally created by AromaDex or contributed by users), constitutes a protected compilation and proprietary database. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any portion of this database without express written permission from AromaDex LLC.

Limited, non-commercial use of individual data points for personal reference or education is permitted, provided such use does not involve systematic extraction or redistribution.

Prohibited Data Usage

The following activities are strictly prohibited without prior written authorization from AromaDex LLC:

• Scraping and Automated Extraction: Using automated tools, bots, crawlers, spiders, scripts, or any other automated means to access, scrape, harvest, index, or extract data from the Service
• AI and Machine Learning Training: Using any AromaDex data to train, fine-tune, evaluate, benchmark, or otherwise develop machine learning models, large language models, artificial intelligence systems, or similar technologies
• Commercial Redistribution: Republishing, reselling, relicensing, or redistributing AromaDex data — in whole or in part — for commercial purposes, including incorporating it into competing products, services, or databases
• Derivative Databases: Creating, compiling, or maintaining databases, datasets, or data collections that are substantially derived from AromaDex content
• Systematic Downloading: Downloading or storing substantial portions of the database, whether manually or through automated means

Authorized Commercial Access

Commercial or bulk access to AromaDex data is available exclusively through authorized APIs or written license agreements. For inquiries regarding commercial licensing, API access, or data partnerships, please contact admin@aromadex.com.

Enforcement

Violations of this section may result in immediate account termination, IP address bans, and legal action. Violators may be held liable for actual damages, statutory damages where applicable, and AromaDex's costs of enforcement including reasonable attorney's fees.

Safety and Regulatory Data

AromaDex displays IFRA (International Fragrance Association) restriction data, EU allergen classifications, safety data, and compliance estimates. This information is community-contributed and is provided for educational and informational purposes only.

You acknowledge and agree that:

• All safety and regulatory data on this platform may contain errors, omissions, or lag behind current IFRA amendments and regulatory updates
• The compliance checker provides estimates only and is not a substitute for professional safety assessment, official IFRA documentation, or supplier-provided Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• AromaDex does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any safety, regulatory, or restriction data displayed on the platform
• You are solely responsible for independently verifying compliance with all applicable regulations, industry standards, and safety requirements before manufacturing, selling, or distributing any product
• AromaDex, its parent LLC, its contributors, and its moderators accept no liability for any harm, loss, or regulatory action arising from formulations or decisions made using data from this platform

Always consult official IFRA guidelines, your material supplier's Safety Data Sheet, and a qualified safety assessor before using any fragrance material in a commercial product.

Reporting Stolen Content

If you believe content on our platform infringes your intellectual property rights or has been stolen from you, please use the report feature on the relevant page or contact us directly. We take such reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the information on our platform is accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. Use of fragrance materials should be done with proper safety precautions and professional guidance.

Limitation of Liability

AromaDex shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes but is not limited to damages from formulations created using information from our platform.

Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms of Service periodically.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
